Thinking of starting a business with your hubby or a male business partner? According to a new study by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Kauffman Foundation, it might be a better idea to go it on your own. Why the disconnect? Basically, lingering gender inequality in the workplace means that in business partnerships, male partners are often seen as the leader by employees, even if the woman has an equal or more powerful role. Gender roles in the home tend to carry over into business partnerships, especially in the startup stages of a business. To limit problems, researchers found it helpful to create a formal organization chart with clearly defined roles and tasks. Then when an issue comes up, the male and female team know who is in charge of resolving the issue.
