Small Biz Tip: What Is “Google My Business”?

July 11, 2014 Rieva Lesonsky

google my business

Is Google My Business just another rewording by the search engine giant or something a small business owner can really use to market a business? The idea is to create a more unified way for local businesses to be found using all of Google’s available tools. Your business information gets entered on Search, Maps and Google+ so that customers can find you, no matter what device they’re using. The Google My Business interface looks like a social media platform with all your information available on a page that can be clicked on for directions, hours or Google+ updates. If you’re already on Google Places for Business, your account has already been upgraded to Google My Business, and you don’t need to do anything.

Web.com can help local customers find your business. Learn more about local leads from Web.com.
